 | They send us home from the hospital with the blue bulb syringe, so we tend to trust it by default. But bulbs, like everything else in the hospital are meant to be DISPOSABLE. They are impossible to clean out thoroughly, which makes them a source of virus-laden mucus that you are putting back into your child's nose, or worse a sibling's nose. And let's face it, bulbs don't work very well. It has been demonstrated by laboratory testing that healthy human lungs can generate 10 times as much suction power (depending on the user) as commercially available bulb or battery-powered nasal aspirators. Because bulbs have such a small volume, they don't generate significant suction.
